Is it worth me buying the snail mixes on ebay? should I make my own? Should I bother with them at all?

I make my own as well. 1/3 weetabix, 1/3 Ready Brek, 1/3 calcium, mixed runny with water. I make a jar full of dry mix in advance and add water only as and when I need it. I'll add some fish flakes sometime as well. They're on the shopping list.
One quick tip to get ground calcium - put a chunk of cuttlefish in a plastic bag, hit it with a hammer, put the bits into a salt grinder, and then just grind away whenever you need it.

I have to admit, I've bought and tried a snail mix and also a normal but plain porredge, both of which caused a Fulica to swell and die. I've stayed away from them, but I think I may try Ali's mix, as that sounds completely harmless to me. I'm trying mine with a dog biscuit later... (Boneos)

I never bother with pre mixes, I just keep my feed plain and simple, and my snails seem to thrive, and breed !

I emailed one snail mix seller as they asked people with a certain level of feedback to contact before bidding, and they were really rather rude and "short" in their reply, so I'm keeping Strachan on the green stuff! (I did try him with some moistened "Go Cat Indoor" but he ignored it.)

Have you tried sunflower hearts, pumpkin and hemp seeds. I get them from the supermarket and blitzit in the mixer. I bought some limestone flower and I sprinkle that on top when I give it to them. I mix it with cooled boiled water and they love it. The margies bulldoze over the other snails to get to it. I also get the snail crumb off ebay and the enjoy that aswell.
