This isn't really relevant but I just thought I'd mention it here as it's not worth it's own thread but it's to do with woodlice. If you want to create a luxury woodlice house one of these cat bowls is perfect - It's got a gap inside and a couple of doorways. I think they like it because it's totally dark. humid and they can cluster together away from the snails. As a bonus if you put your snail food in the bowls any bits that get knocked off land right outside their door. Just mist inside the 'doorways' now and again to keep it nice and damp for them and they'll colonise it in no time. Oh that's cool!

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but i didn't think its worth creating a new one just for a couple of my questions xD
I'd like to put a couple of woodlice into the tank with my two fulis. I have done this before, but they all died, as the tank wasn't right for them, and they all ended up getting squished when I closed the lid =[ So I want to start again, as i have a new tank (storage tub) which I think will hold them better. Now for a couple of quuestions. Last time, I collected them out of the garden, but I worry about doing this. What about the pests they might be carrying? I can't take another mite attack Dx Would they be alright on Spagnum Moss? And are there any special requirements to keeping them? (The european ones, as have no money to get tropicals loool). Thanks x

So you`ll be keeping Uk ones? I haven`t ever kept those really, I do keep the tropical ones though, they like warn humid and roten food. I should think you`ll need much the same conditions though, the most important things are humidity and a dark place to go to as they breed in the dark. I had trouble keeping them alive in my snail tanks aswell so I started a seperate colony in thier own tank, that soon taught me a few things and now I can keep them alive ! lol My main problem was that I was keeping the tank far too clean, they like rotten food and if there is none, they just pop their little clogs...

Yup, the UK ones xD I do plan to start them off in their own smaller tank, just so that i can get the hang of what they need in order to survive

I might try these, but how to control little bit of population? Just kill huge amounts of those in time to time? Might really try in big tank I will have not much time to figure out how to change 65litres of soil very often and getting huge amounts of soil to home on my own.
