i think my new snails got mites i havn't put him with the other and he has a small tank with food, cuttle and with a damp on the bottom for now.
what do i do next?
the story of getting my new snail
well i went to a pet shop to look a mud skippers but the saw them in a tiny tank with old lecctce on the bottom and brown water on the bottom.
there was about 18 in this tank all about 3-7cm's and all in a tank not bigger than 1 foot by 1 foot.
it stunk and looked like some had died in the water. i took one off the roof which was awake and looking fine. so i borught him £2.95 he is about 5cm's in lentgh.
not sure what breed though i will post a picture soon

Good on you mate. That's another great snail rescue ;D I'd be tempted to report the shop. Mites: You can buy hypoaspis miles predatory mites from varius online stores. Tigs posted a thread somewhere, and I'll dig it out - please bare with me........ Here we are.... supersnails.proboards76.com/index.cgi?board=links&action=display&thread=1189954255&page=1Mites look like little white oval blobs scuttling around the snail. Your fisrt step would be to wash the snail and put it in fresh bedding, meanwhile order a tub of hypoaspis miles which will hunt and kill the pests. These mites must be used immediately after receiving them because otherwise they don't live long. Place most in with the new snail and put the rest in with your other snails. This should take care of the problem. xx

Hi Mikey, Does it look like there are tiny white things crawling about on the snail's skin? If so, then your new pet does have mites, and you're doing the right thing keeping it seperate. PetSnails has a very informative page on mites: www.petsnails.co.uk/problems/mites.html#startHave you given him a bath yet? That would be a good place to start if you haven't done so already. Well done for saving him, that pet shop sounds terrible! *edit* posted at same time as you AlienSnail!

Get a nice bowl of warmish water and give them a quick dunk, then just wipe them with your fingers or wet tissue, until they look nice and clean, that's what I normally do and they seem to enjoy themselves!

Well done you!!! You can put them in shallow warm water and I also have one of those pump up and spray bottles which I 'shower' them with.
