Is Cabbage ok to feed snails, my sister has ran into abit of a problem
Her snail I gave her a few months back started to re-tract, she said her mom fed the snails cabbage and after that one had white stuff coming out and now it's retracted right into it's shell and it had a white lump which dad said looked like a tooth on it, any way she ran teh snail under luke warm water and the white thing popped and puss came out...any idea what this could be from? Or what it is infact?

Cabbage is fine but they often don't touch it.
Where abouts on the snail was the white lump?
As for the rubbery shell perhaps that particular snail never touches the cuttlefish. Perhaps your sister should rub lumps of cuttlefish together to make a powder and sprinkle it on top of the food for the snail.

It was on it's neck from what I saw, She showed me on webcam. I will let dad know to tell her. She's really upset bless her, the snail came out of it's shell when she had it in water.

well the sperm dart is hard, and I've winessed two snails who should have been mating miss each other. I've seen a sperm dart shoot off and land on a snail instead of inside it and then there's a slight discharge of ooze. I suspect the white tooth on the neck was the sperm dart which shot off, Harmless.
I also suspect this snail simply won't eat cuttlefish and will hopefully be fine with powdered calcium ;D

No I don't think it's injured the other snail. I think it's shot out of the one that your sister suspected of being injured. But I may be reading it wrong.

Nooo I mean the one thats injured xD
I meant telling her sperm came from her other snail and missed and hurt it.
No idea how it's doing today but will ask her tonight when I get in.

What I mean is.......
The one that is injured doesn't sound like it's injured at all.
The one with the thing that popped out of it leaving puss around it's neck?
It sounds to me that's not an inhury, it's the hard white sperm dart popping out, followed by a small oozy discharge. I've seen it happen when a snail shoots it's dart out and it misses it's target.
I think that's what your sister saw.

I just don't know then hun. Yeah I unsderstood there was only one snail who was ill, the one with the white thing that came out. But if it's not the sperm dart coming out of the neck then I don't know what it could be. Have you suggested isolating the snail? What ever it is I hope the snail's ok soon x
