That`s interesting, what made you try that? I know rosehip contains a lot of vitamin c but I wouldn`t have thought to offer petals.....

I had flowers bought for me and when they started to wilt I thought maybe the snails might like them. I tried it and they happily munched away on them. In my picture you can see the pink petals in the tank EDIT: My Neice ate a flower I give her once, I know you can actually eat flowers and some dogs and cats do too, I don't think it's something you should feed snails all the time, but offer as a special treat every now and again if they like it. However, I will let you all know if any of my snails fall ill. I gave them it over a week ago and they all seem fine.

I know Rose petals are edible, you can garnish food with them. I wouldn't know what other flowers are ok to use though.

I would have avoided them myself, I`ve always thought flowers to be poisonous, or most of them anyway......

Good advice is every berrybush which r edible, leaves are safe use as tea too etc. And in leaf litter and there is few exception that has only berries edible. I Have succeed in making leaf compost some slugs have moved in, when I was mixing and adding leaves one day. I planned to try soon the litter if I get little bit more leaves to rot. Then I will before snow stole every leaf of which trees have dropped to some barrels and storage so they r easier to find in winter when needed. I smelled the rotting leaves I was afraid they smell horrible but the smell was lovely. *maybe I have been with my snails too much, I'll start to like rotting and smelly stuff to. *

They`re quite spikey, I think no matter how careful you were, a spike or two may slip through. Aside from that, I wouldn`t have thought they`re tender enough for a snail. Tropical snails seem to be really quite fussy when it comes to food and those leaves are exactly the tenderest o fleaves are they? If you`re just looking for something you can go out and collect that your snails will eat, try dandylion leaves. Make sure you collect small leaves as big ones are bitter, and collect them from somewhere far away from roads because car fumes soak into them. now they do like those !

Yeh, I prefer to put in litter leaves which snails don't eat, but they don't do harm to snails. Cos it would be horrible have picky snails. Put then it's different store what leaves snails like to eat.

Noticed one bad thing about leaf litter, you can only storage leaves winter digging them from snow above the ground. Snow is only thing that keeps moisture in the leaves during winter. But it's ok I'll make huge compost just in case in autumn for winter if I don't want to use soil. And I have to do that anyway 'cos my lazy sister don't help me with raking 'cos cottages yard is so big.

I haved in country side peat loss one day, so I had to use few days rosebay willowherbs fresh leaves [Epilobium angustifolium] I didn't get all the eggs separate from leaves I had to burn all the leaves, so I think I don't change to leaf litter.. If someone wants to use it you can't storage it throught winter only one way is to dig snow away from leave compost other wise they won't be same if u would dry and storage them. Use only huge leaves so you don't lose your mind when you pick to eggs.. I think litter is option to me only when I have some lonely snails so them can't lay egg by them selves. I stick to peat. Leaf litter maybe would be good when it's not egg laying time and you have transport snail to some other city etc.
