prickly pear = evil incarnate. trod on one once trying to stop my cat eating another. stuck right in my foot and everything. PAAAAIN!

PAAAAIN! ooohh ohh yes , no i dont keep opuntias for that very reason (not treading on them but aghh) they have tiny little barbs on the spines (gloccoids in this case) so they are litke little fish hooks/ fish spears. ughhhh im sorry for you!

I adore Toby, but he has multiple personalities and one of them makes hitler look nice. I have a scar on my arm where he bit me a few months back, a lovely long silver line. He's a real charmer . Still, when I pick him up and he snuggles his head into my sholder, purring away, it makes it worth it. I wuv him

Oooh I love Ferrocacti. Yes some of the spines on those are insane! I really like to irregula lumpy cacti too. And the flowers! Who would think such huge flowers can emerge from tiny plants like that? (Talking cacti in general). I had a problem with sciarid fly larvea eating a whole load of cacti and lithops seadlings I had. Annoying. And then some of my Mammalia caught mealy bugs, couldn't get rid of them. In the end I had to throw several cacti away Horrible it was. Well going back tho flies, I've resigned myself to having a house full of the tiny things.
