Apparently foid on the terrarium lid helps stop the heating of the lid. Im just thinking of trying it because i have a plastic home for my snails and heatmats don't work overly well through plastic and mines quite thick plastic. Anyone else got any ideas about what stuff i could actually in the home to warm it? Hmm well you could try placing the heatmat inside the the tank with a pulse thermostat. A pulse thermostat set on fairly low will gently warm the mat up without it ever being full on and burn-hot if you get the setting right. Or you could place the mat inside the tank but behind some kind of none-metallic mesh to prevent direct contact
