Hi Guys... I am wanting to put together some info for the keeping of Helix Pomatia.... i've never kept them myself.. (not yet anyway ) So if anyone would like to contribute to the thread with their own info....re feeding, habitat, breeding cycle, etc i'd be most grateful. I can then turn the info into a care sheet at a later date.... cheers folks

I have also never kept them, but am planing to get some so I've done a bit of research They like it 13-20°C, the habitat is pretty much the same as plain old garden snails, but they don't like it too damp. They eat most fruit and veg. Feel free to correct any of this info as I don't keep the species yet

I keep helix pomatias I don't give them any extra heating so are kept at about 18-20℃ any lower than 15℃ I've seen them go pretty sluggish and not very active. I hibernate them over winter as it's best to do that with helix species to keep them in their natural cycle, they eat the same as other snails however I've found they don't really eat cuttlefish but prefer limestone flour blocks, also I've found they don't like plain coir (would spend most time on lid) so mixed some leaf litter into their substrate and see them on it more x

I also read that they prefer a chalkie substrate ...hence why their population is mainly down south,as the ground is chalky...so i wonder if it's worth adding chalk to their substrate to see if that helps them?

I keep mine around 20-22, for substrate I use leaf litter mixed with coir and add in some wood/dead leaves that I've collected, when it comes to hibernating I think its personal preference as you don't have to do it, I don't with mine
