Hm. He had that mucus again, he spent a long time cleaning it off himself and also worked on his shell edge. Then he snailed around and slept in normal retraction. I placed a piece of fresh sweet potato next to him just in case, and he actually woke up and is eating it very slowly right now. He's attached to a root though so I can't see inside him. He seems to go kinda up and down and I really hope he'll make it.

Today I woke him up again and put him on food, and he's been slowly eating ever since. The area right inside his breathing hole looks very swollen and messy, but I can't see anything that'd definitely be eggs. I'll have to try and locate them (or the possible new babies), and also really take a lamp and look if they're still inside him and just what the "mess" is. The most important thing is that his appetite seems to be coming back, even if he eats slowly and carefully.

I know Zorst, I was really really worried when he didn't react to me when he was deep inside and I took very long to locate his slowly beating heart...but now he's at least acting like a living snail again. A thin, weak snail yes, but he is eating and moving around and getting pats and kisses from the others.

Darn, I cut my better hand pretty bad so egg/mini baby check will be a lot of work. I'll try and get a real good look inside him today if he lets me see. He ate for hours, many hours yesterday (I also threw crushed snail eggs at him and he had some of those too, good for him), then went to sleep, and right now he's still sleeping in the same spot. I need more sleep myself as well but I'll see about checking him out later today.
Eta: Haha, just after I wrote this I went to see the tank again as it's in the bedroom, and Taavetti is awake, by himself. That's very good to see. Now for my own nap...

Ok the clutch is definitely not inside him any more. He looks stronger than yesterday, a little swollen inside but that's it. Now I only have to figure out what he did with the eggs/babies.

I just dug up 139 eggs and one tiny baby near where I found him in deep retraction the other day. The baby I left in the tank, the eggs are in the freezer and will be fed back to the snails later on. Taavetti seems okay, just needs a bit more good food to eat and also good sleep. I think this story ends here.

I know Zorst, I'm so relieved that it's over. I was really afraid I'd lose the little dear!

I am glad he is back to his old snailie self love. When a little one is ill, I cannot concentrate on anything else at all.

I know Jo, and then you feel like just checking on the little fellow all the time even though he needs sleep to recover and argh... Taavetti was very active today. He was in a different part of the tank almost every time I looked. Something shocked him at one point and he retracted strangely deep (there were snail shell pieces under him but they were not from his shell, I have no clue what happened), but he came out very fast when I picked him up. He was in a weird, nervous mood and didn't eat on my hand, but instantly when I returned him to the tank, he started stuffing his face. He may have some stress symptoms still, no surprises there as he must have been uncomfortable for a long time with all those eggs, but as a whole I'm not worried.
