I still have so much to learn. I haven't been giving mine meat at all Etana but I will now for sure. If we have a joint or some chops (not pork though as I know animals cannot take pork), I will make sure I save some for them and the mince in the egg idea is great. I understand what you say about the seasoning but if I give them a piece which is furthest away from the edge where the seasoning (not that we use that much) would be, it will be OK. I will get them some fish food too, is that the pellets or the flakes please? I think snailies are sharers Etana hun and that is one of the many reasons why I love them. I hope mine are getting all that they need to from the grown ups, or nearly grown ups anyway.

If you season the meat by yourself, just buy it salt-free and cut a little piece (teaspoon size for starters) for the snails before seasoning it, that way there's the least worry. The snails will happily eat it raw, after all it's offered because in the wild, snails will take a nibble of a dead animal if they find one. The fish food is fish flakes, they have to be well soaked (all mushy). I'm not sure which brand name is best but watch out for added salt, sugar and copper in the ingredient list as those will hurt the snails. I've got to dig out one old photo...I had about 8 young Arianta arbustorum snails forming a circle around a piece of food, all so happily sharing it with their brothers and sisters, no arguing at all, and in the same photo my dear terrorist Rudolf was on top of a similarly sized piece, spread out as wide as possible LOL. No wonder he got sat on so often hahahah, they do tell off a tank mate who misbehaves. Edit: here. This is off topic in my own Tiger thread but since we were talking about sharing LOL...

Great photo and now I see where Maverick gets this trait from lol, he also spreads himself out over a piece of food lol when the others are all sharing there's nicely. Yes Maverick is certainly proving to carry on with all the Tank Terrorist activities lol.
As for Marrow well he's just had another growth spurt and is now even bigger n fatter. He was slimeing over the tank door last night and I had to double check it was him he's def grown. He's now one big snail. I just checked in the tank and he's asleep in his bath with a pile of members of his fan club asleep on top of and around him. His Grumpy Marrow face will be a picture when he wakes up and realizes his baths been invaded again lol.

Thank you Etana love, I have just put a piece of beef in the oven not realising they could eat raw meat so I am very cross with myself now. Having sad that I didn't season the meat because I don't think it always needs it so maybe I will cut up a little bit and give it to them. They have had some cauliflower for the first time today so it will be interesting to see how that goes down. I hear what you are saying about the fish flakes and thanks for the soaking advice, I will make absolutely sure that there is no added salt and sugar etc, I will look for some on the web and check the ingredients. Oh bless them, it is lovely when they are all eating together, it melts my heart. Yes, there is generally a big greedy guts who tries to cover the food but the others always seem to get their fair share anyway and there does seem t be a code of behaviour in there if anyone steps out of line LOL!! Fabulous photo love, thanks for showing it to us, they are so cute.
Ha ha Zorst love, Marrow sounds a regular cross patch but lovely with it LOL!!

Marrow seem's to have given up trying to sleep in his flowerpot cave and his bath as they have been invaded by his fan club.
Today I woke to find him asleep in the top corner of one of the doors. His shell rammed tightly in the corner and touching the roof of the tank so no one can sit on him. Bless him Marrow is really one character of a snail.
I put his fave food under him on the tank floor so he's not got to far to slime to find his breakfast when he wakes up.

LOL at poor Marrow, all sick of the little guys sitting on him. I was re-arranging my fulica tank and added one big flowerpot cave, and Halonen snailed right in, leaving an unusually visible snail trail. The others examined the trail with their eyes down and didn't follow her into the cave for hours! I really think she can add a "just don't, Momma's not social now" smell to her trail, as many times she's sleeping on the wall with no one else within a 10cm radius from her. I find it really fascinating how Maverick has inherited so much of Rudolf's personality. Makes me wonder if Rudolf was that way before his shell-shattering accident (which was long before I found him), or whether the near death experience changed him so that the fury became a part of his blood so to say. Gaius is still growing fast too, it's crazy, he's the biggest snail I've ever had so there's a lot of "wow" effect. The spot on his cheek is changing too, he's going to be lovesick soon and every other Tiger is just a baby! Oh man.

Ha ha, the things a snailie has too do to get some peace LOL!! I was only thinking the other day that they must have a way of telling other snails that they need some me time and need to be left alone. Mine are always climbing all over each other and no one seems to mind but I do wonder when I see a snaily in isolation if he has had enough and wants to be left alone for a while. I think Gaius is on steroids hunny LOL!!

I def think Etana that this must have been something that was passed down to Maverick genetically and knowing what little I do regarding genetics n temperament in horses and whats inherited I'd say that its very likely that Rudolf had at least some of this personality before his shell accident. Though of course the shell accident could very likely have added to his personality as well.
It'll be very interesting to see if Maverick also ends up the same or similar size to Rudolf.
LOL I love the way Halonen has all the other snails trained to leave her alone, Poor Marrow def needs some lesson's for her in this matter so he can regain his own flower pot cave and bath back from his herd of adoring fan club lol.

I think it is the same as with we humans love, experiences change us sometimes and make us behave differently. I think it maybe the same for snailies.

Twirly passed away, he was doing badly ever since his eye didn't grow back right so it's understandable. I'll always remember his hilarious twirling though - really too bad I never caught it on video properly, it was as thought he'd known I was filming, and would stop! Zorst, what if they have offspring one day? More angry terrorists if we're lucky, and perhaps twirlers too. Or or or...an angry terrorist who twirls his eyes! Oh my, what a thought. In fact I wonder if there would be more big terrorist snails over at the school where we found Rudolf. He was pretty good at wooing everyone after all, so he might have had some offspring survive. I'll have to see next summer, everyone's hibernating now. I did mention, didn't I, that when Rudolf had those babies, one of them was very angry even as a hatchling? I laughed so much when that tiny little snailie went ahead and bit me furiously, though with a mouth so tiny, it was just a series of sharp snips. He had the older snails sitting on him all the time as he probably shouted dirty words at them or something. If that didn't grow up to be Maverick I don't know who did. Also, yes Marrow should talk with Halonen about getting personal snaily space. Haha, I can't get enough of how some snails have such striking personalities. Hmmmmm Jo you might have a point, Gaius is again a couple mm bigger than last time I saw him. Now if Gaius is on steroids, who's bringing them into the tank? Is there a reason Mauno and Maija seem so tired lately - are they leading some kind of weird double lives? HMMMMM.

Oh I am so sorry to hear about Twirly Etana love, you must be so upset. Ha ha yes, who is bringing the steroids into the tank, does someone have diplomatic immunity and bringing them into the home in the diplomatic bag LOL? Maybe Mauno and Maija are the original Supersnails and are combating baddies at night LOL!!

Actually I'm quite ok, my heart was hurting seeing him suffer, with only one eye to slowly twirl and the other one growing wrong, with nothing I could do. At some point he gave up and started losing weight, retracting deeper into his shell all the time. A few times I was able to wake him up, but I prepared to say goodbye a while ago already. I'm just glad he lives on in the little snail I sent to Zorst, and the twirls make her and her family smile now. Hahahah that's quite a theory, who knows, you may be right! I wonder if they're planning to have Gaius join in when he's fat enough, to scare the baddies, and that's why they bring in the steroids. The problem is though that Gaius is dreadfully lazy and loves just being convenient, going between eating, bathing, and lots and lots of sleep, and on top of that he has a face that wouldn't scare anyone unless they were right out snail-phobic. We'll see what happens!!

I am so glad you are OK hun. No, I agree when they are obviously not happy it is a sort of a blessing, poor little chap. Ha ha love, I think it will be gang warfare before long LOL!! I have a couple of lazy ones who will stretch almost to the point of what must be sheer discomfort to eat, without having to move. There are some people like that aren't there LOL?

Yeah... LOL I really must set up that snaily surveillance camera system, this is much too mysterious. Hahah I know, sometimes mine try and figure out ways to reach the food dish from the bath tub, it ends up looking like it can't be comfortable but hey, their tails are still bathing LOL. Plus if it's a scallop shell bath tub they can nibble on that too hehe. Yes I think I know that kind of people. Snails sure do so many things that are basically similar to what humans do.
