All badies a really good, growing nicely. The baby panthera are growing like mad and the fulica are putting on loads of new shell and growing well. My new babies from Zorst are loving their new ovum friends and all snailies are eatinf pretty much everything I give them. They love the snail mix I made and poloshed it all off. They will be coming on holiday to scotland with us for summer so I won't be around much from the 28th July and back end of August. I will keep taking pics so you can see tyem growing. I love watching the little slimers. Lol

Zorst Lol they did love it, I almost couldn't believe how long I had to keep adding egg on my palm before they turned away. The dark footed Margie (now named Seppo) almost ate a hole in my skin! He did actual eating movements, not the tiny investigation rasps! Ow. Love the guy to bits anyway.

I would just love a snailie to eat whilst on my hand, what a wonderful sign of trust. Can someone please tell me what rasping is, is it a sign of affection that they do with each other and their guardians (us)? I think the dark footed margie got carried away love, he was enjoying his egg so much. That is so wonderful snailcrazy sweetie, that they are coming on holiday with you. Tell them not to forget their buckets and spades LOL!!

Jo, rasping is when a snail tastes or eats something. How it feels is not unlike a cat's tongue licking you, which is almost what happens anyway as snails don't have teeth, only the rasping tongue (radula) and a little hard edge at the front part of the mouth that they can push against when taking bites.
They often take mini rasps of almost anything they're sitting on, and then do it with a lot more force if they decide it's delicious. They can also fight by rasping but it's not terribly effective, lol (and not common anyway).
I don't think rasping is affectionate, they have the very soft kisses (no tongue there lol) and eye stalk/feeler tentacle pats and strokes for that. They do sometimes do all of those to my fingers, the eye stalk pat is so gentle that I can only feel it when my very biggest snails do it!

Thank you for explaining that to me love, I didn't know they had little raspy tongues like a cat. I love it when my bunny licks me during a mutual grooming session and I would like it if a snailie did it too. I have seen photos of the soft kisses and feeler touching and it is adorable. Ha ha, no, no tongue during their kisses LOL!!
