I got some Helix Lucorum early last year and though they have done well in themselves they never took it into themselves to get the groove on n lay me some eggs. Something I've been waiting patiently for. Well yesterday at long last a small glass tank got freed up so I set it up and moved these guys into it from there old large plastic tub. In the early hours of the morning I had to get up to feed the chicks and the Lucorum's tank is on the shelf above the chicks brooder. I got lucky enough to witness the most sensual courting dances of all the snails in the tank. There they all were with their partners danceing away each wearing love darts. Man I was so happy that was well worth the chicks wakeing me up in the early hours to see this. I woke again at 5.30am this time to sort out the duckings in the other brooder and the snails were still at it. So fingers cross I will at long last have some Helix Lucorum eggs and some baby slimers from them. I'm not sure if its the new tank or its new location above a warm brooder but what ever it is I sure have some happy zonked out snails this morning n one very messy slimey tank to clean up later . Oooh, exciting! Keep us posted! Snail courting dances are so great to watch, just yesterday I saw one of the kids of Big Eyes (not Twirly, but one of his identical brothers, except without the twirling) and the biggest albino shell guy make some real love. I'll be very excited to see if they lay eggs later and what the offspring looks like.

Congratulations on the matings The extra warmth may have helped, but have they also got slightly less humidity? I've found that glass tanks have less humidity than plastic tubs, sometimes this is a bonus, sometimes not!

Thanks Guys, There danceing sure was slow beautiful and gracefull and it was a real honor to be able to see it, all the snails in the tank are zonked out still. Fingers crossed some eggs get produced n hatch after this. And Tilly yes I think its both a combination of a sightly dryer n warmer tank, these guys were wild caught from a hot country n though there tank temp was within the temp range it just needed to be a tadge warmer n drier for them to be really happy.
Etana, that's great news I cant wait to see how that mateing results as well.
