How do i know if they are hibernating? My small snails are all still active. But the big ones (except the youngest one) have all been sleeping for over 2 weeks now. Sometimes they move a bit but that's it. They also don't seem to eat. The temps. did drop quite a bit recently. During the day when i'm out, the temp is about 18°C. When i get home i put on the heath and it gets warmer but i guess they don't really notice or care.

Mine have long periods of barely moving love, most of them have been like that now for a couple of weeks and suddenly last night, everyone was up. I just think it is something they do from time to time but I am no expert. Mine can be proper little sleepy heads and the food barely touched sometimes. When this happens I also try them with some different food or a favourite like cucumber. I only give that as a rare treat though as I know it isn't good for their little tummies. Please keep us updated.

Pretty much what Jo says - they just sit down to rest for days or weeks in a row. My Cepaea will hibernate attached to walls, or some will burrow and seal in. They will wake up slowly and grumpily and be quite quick to go back to sleep if woken up.

Most are also on the tank walls. One was hiding on the cork and between the plant leaves. Took me a while to find that one. Last night all of a sudden 3 of them were awake and eating. But they all went to sleep again

I get bubbled at irritably if I wake anyone up which I always try not to do. However when spot cleaning and cleaning the inside of the glass there are always a few people on there so I have to very carefully go around them. Some of mine go to sleep on their food tray so they don't have far to walk when they wake up hungry lol!!!
