Yes my colony is quite large now and I like it that way, makes it interesting.
I would hazard a guess that these would live easily with alot of other species in theory, but as you say the practicalities of that would mean that frequent soil changes would be more likely, and the eggs and young are sooooo tiny it's a job going through all of the soil.
The little octona don't make very much mess and they clearly like some spoiled food, so you don't have to change things much when they're kept on their own.

I`m looking forward to getting it started, it`ll be nice to see them more often and the overall tank will look really nice, especially if they hang of the decor. First job I think....

Great ! They pretty much look after themselves as long as they`re warm and humid. You`ll be needing your magnifying glass to see those babies lol but they do grow at a half decent rate.....

I can`t stress enough how manky you need to let the food get. It wants to be falling apart wet and gross, covered in springtails and just grim lol they love it ! You`ll always find them inside it or under it......

I spotted an odd thing today lol I`ve never seen them doing this before. An Ovtana was going up the side of the tank, twisting his shell like a screw, first one way, then the other ! Again and again! It was quite cute really lol ........I`m breeding my woodlice in the octona tank aswell now, I figured it`s a perfect environment for a big colony, I`ve got soooo many here now it`s like a plague ! lol I`ve got this many ! lol
