I wouldn`t dream of sending that far but plenty of people do. I would have thought you could get them there in a matter of days depending on what service you use. Securley packed with lots of food that won`t go off too quick, like sweet potato and you SHOULD be ok.......

I have sent Albino fulica to france but I don't think I would send baby tigers also if they pay via paypal if they calimed the didn't arrive you would have to provide proof they where delivered or you would have to refund proof of postage is not enough you would have to have a tracking number and a signature they where recieved. I posted to Italy and I would never again sent one he said they where all d.o.a sent another said they never came and then I talked to someone else who was also sending out stuff to said person and he was telling them they hadn't come etc so not saying this seller is like that but you have to be careful.

It`s problem enough in this country sometimes with Royal mail being so rubbish, I just won`t even entertain the idea of sending abroad, much as I want to help. You`ve got added complications like regional laws aswell, are Tigers even legal in France? They`re illegal in a whole lot of countries because they can survive in the wild and wreak havoc on the local ecosystem and farmland. Send out to the wrong country in that respect and it`s YOU that`s responsible, legally, for expoting an illegal animal. You could end up responsible for another Cane toad type plague on a foriegn country and have some officials come knocking on your door....

I will give it a miss then, I didn't want to do it any way for the safety of the snails but with those added risks i will not be sending them. Thanks Feebo

Hi,
just to add something to the debate, as I live in France. I've both received and sent snails to and from the UK. I never had any problem and all the snails reached their destination without trouble.
Achatina and Archachatina species are not welcome in the French departments and territoires d'outre mer (Caribean island mainly), but are not forbidden in France "Europe mainland".
regards, Laurent

Yes I will say for all those members who have not been with us for long - Laurent is a long-standing member and I've never received any complaints about him, or know of any issues with sending anything to him, so I would personally feel comfortable selling to Laurent.
It's a personal decision whether or not you are comforatable sending them over-seas at all really. Some people are and some aren't, but I personally trust Laurent.

To be fair though, POLYPED sent out Megas to someone I know and it took them about a week to arrive and they survived. I don't think the Tigers'll take any harm

To be fair though, POLYPED sent out Megas to someone I know and it took them about a week to arrive and they survived. I don't think the Tigers'll take any harm Megas are more hardy than Tigers. They have a higher tolerence to temperature changes and changes in general. Having said that not all tigers will drop dead at the first wiff of cold air, in fact some of the pet tigers in this country, a fair proportion in fact, came from Brixton market where they were shipped and in awful conditions. Some died after being rescued, some lived and thrived, I don't know in what proportion. However many of us have found that they can become ill and die after a change such as a cool weather spell or prolonged postage. they're not the hardiest of snails. As for sending them abroard there is an option called parcel-sure (I think), which is probably the quickest inter-Europe postage system available through Royal Mail post offices. If postage is kept to two days from start to finish then hopefully things will be fine. They may appreciate a heat pack if they're up in an unheated cargo-hold of an aeroplane. It's not an easy decision. Some tigers are tougher than others and you won't know unless you try it. They'd probably be ok but then again...... I personally would be nervous of sending tigers, I just wouldn't be confident of them being ok. Margies, fulica and most others no-where near so nervous.

I am very wary of sending them as i don't want them to die on the way and feel guilty, I will look at the parcel-sure it might be more expensive but Im sure the buyer would be happier knowing they will be there quicker. Thanks Aliensnails. x

I have just had a look and it will only cost an extra £2 for it to get there a day quicker so thats good I will send them that way.

Personally, I would say it's not fair, that some people wont send snails to other countries. How else we would get snails to Finland, if no-one ever sent any? I have received tiger-snails from England, Austria and Sweden, all have been well. And other snails too, when sent on summer, and packed carefully, everything has went just perfect.

Some people won't do it for the safety of the snails I would with fulica and snails like that but i was unsure about the tigers at they are so funny with change. I know some sellers will as i have been offered snails from all over the world but i have declined them as I don't think it is fair for them to be in the post for 3-7 days i prefur to post within the UK as then i know they will be there next day. I now won't have a problem posting over seas but it will be at buyers own risk.
