I would love to set up a camera on mine Etana hun because you just cannot physically watch them all day. I had a baby trying to eat today from the bath tub and he was just managing to eat a piece of sweet potato. I couldn't help thinking that it would be easier in the long run if he just moved a little. Kine have a red plastic pet food dish to swim in but I wonder if they would be happier with a scallop shell. Where do you get them from please? You are right about snaily and human ways and laziness is definitely a habit in my snaily residence LOL!!

Love the baby snail story Jo, the little ones are so funny. I had a baby climb on top of a sleeping adult and then get all grumpy when his ride wouldn't move hahaha! I got lucky and found a bunch of big scallop shells in a second hand store, so I can't really give advice on where to buy them. However I think we care more than the snails do about what exactly is used. My wild caughts had a plastic cat food dish for a bath tub before and they would sit in it in a neat row, lol. I use a lot of pasta sauce can lids for food & calcium dishes too. The scallop shells are very pretty though, and safe to nibble on too.

Ha ha, did he rasp his larger mode of transport as he became angrier LOL? That I would love to have seen. Mine are always hitching rides and I have seen the big one having something to eat and the little one on hm with something to eat too, please do not ask me how he managed to get it LOL!! Thank you for that Etana love and I will look out for some if they are a favourite to nibble on. I agree, we probably fuss far too much when they are perfectly happy, I know I do. I tend to put their calcium in little piles next to their food, I really must get around to making a few molds.

Lol, thankfully not, he just made really hilarious foot-in-mouth scrunched up faces and stretched over to look at the front of the adult's shell from different angles, and eventually fell asleep waiting. Aww I love that, the little one having food as well. What a lovely thought.

Everyone was trying to get into the paddling pool at once yesterday, you have never seen anything like it. Goodness knows what was happening but it looked hilarious. Yes it was sweet Etana love, it is almost as if the bigger snaily has passed some up to him.

Lol, the pool parties that we discussed in that other thread Gaius had his first real bulge today. What a sight. It was bigger than his own head, and he was patting it with his feelers. I am now pampering him with sweet potato outside the tank, hoping he'll be able to sleep with the changes in his body and his feelings. He took a while to start eating, but now I can hear him slowly rasping. Such a relaxing sound. So he survived the critical age right before maturity. Now we'll wait for the albino babies to grow up.

Darn I missed your post re Twirly eyes heading to join Rudolf in the great Cabbage patch in the sky, I know Twirly was hurting so in his respects it was probably a blessing but its also hard on us humans when they go even though we know they need to. Yes I def have a Twirly eyes offspring possibly 2 here that twirl there eye's, one is pretty shy but I'm sure Ive caught her twirling a few times only she stops when my presence is noticed. The other Twirly eye's just loves twirling his eyes regardless of who's around lol.
As for Maverick we'll he's def been sat on a good few times by a gang of them lol. He's def a ferocious tank terrorist in the making lol. He could well be the little one who tried so hard to bite you. He def tries and bites me when I handle him and he doesn't want to be picked up lol. Not that it hurts me though he doesn't know that. He's def a mini Rudolf in the making and with Twirly eyes keeps me entertained.
So both your snails live on over here for sure. It's kinda nice that they both show the characters of there parents and that we have such good stories about them to see how these young snails turn out compared to there parents.

I am so glad he has started eating, it seems as if they go through a lot when reaching maturity and it isn't always good. A little bit like us when we started our periods and that time of our lives generally LOL!! I have never really heard a snail rasping when eating as I have never had one eat anything outside the tank. To tell the truth I am always worried about disturbing them, in case they don't want to come out. How many snailies do you have in one tank please Etana love?
Ha ha Zorst hun, there is always a grumpy one isn't there LOL?

Yeah it is a strange time for them, I'm glad I know what to expect because I've seen so many teenage fulica act weird before they learn what is going on and what love is. The sleepless days must be rough for Gaius as he's such a huge sleeper normally, so I do all I can to help him get well rested. I have overcrowded tanks, 14 in my small one (of whom 3 have shells over 10 cm long, the rest are under 5 cm long) and I'm not sure how many in my big one (only 1 who's significantly over 10 cm though, but lots of young) but I have lots of flowerpot caves, hamster houses and other decorations so they can hide if they need to. As soon as I can get more heat mats I have one glass tank already waiting. Zorst, awwww I love the shy twirler, that's really adorable. Also hearing about Maverick warms my heart. Rudolf used to bite me too (and I was proud of him for being such a fighter) until he learned that my hands actually bring food and take him out for baths. Does Maverick have any special movements, and is he into bathing more than other snails? Rudolf loved water in any form, and I laughed so hard when he made those sharp turns by first bending back to turn his shell to the right direction with his mouth, and then running off like the wind. Ah the good memories.

Maverick raises up his head and dances in the water , he also likes to lay back over his shell n wiggle around, he sure looks happy when he has a bath lol. The Shy twirler is very cute but if she senses I'm around she go's n hides in her shell lol. www.independent.ie/videos/world-news/watch-air-corps-release-aerial-footage-of-unstoppable-floods-34272907.htmlIf it works n you check out the footage on this link it shows the results of all these storms n hurricanes that are hitting us. We have another Hurricane due to hit us shortly and at least 3 more weeks of this rain n storms etc UGH. The footage is over the west of the country the last 3rd is the low land between where I am n the city a couple of hrs drive away. The whole part of this end of the country is cut off due to the floods, land slides n fallen trees. The land where I live is saturated but were dry with no standing water thankfully as the water runs down the mountain past us. Anyhow Happy New Year to you all Zorst
