On Tig's link for coir blocks (in the links section), they also selll coir bales which make up 65 litres of coir. Do you reckon I'd be able to cut these with a handsaw?

I was contemplating getting these but the ease of the blocks out weighs the price advantage.
I know what a mess it makes when i divide the blocks so can only imagine its ten times worse with the bales.

Do you divide the blocks when they've been rehydrated? Or cut them beforehand? I'm not too worried about mess.
(dividing blocks....lol.....I wish I needed that little...)

LOL oh dear! Luckily I've got a C&G in cabinet making so I'll probably be ok with the handsaw. Only one way to settle this - I'm gonna go ahead and order a bale.

That's the best price I've seen anywhere so far. And believe me I've shopped around. Thanks for that link Tigs.

It works!!!! I just cut off enough to fill my 10 ltr bucket, made a bit of mess but I did the job in the garden so it doesn't matter. By my calculations I've got enough left over for another 6 full changes for all my tanks, that's 6 months worth of coir for £9.40! That's £18.80 a year! And it only took 5mins to saw it up. Doesn't take much to please this Pumpkin. (saved you all some money potentially, gotta be worth some karma eh? )
