Last night I gave my gang some banana leaves for the first time. They seemed very interested and spent the whole night climbing over them and hiding underneath, but not a nibble!
Has anyone else had this happen? I think it might be a bit too fibrous for them to manage.

I got mine from the Caribbean greengrocers local to me, I'm not sure if you could get them online but it's probably possible, you can get everything else online...

Someone kindly sent me some banana seeds last year and I now have 2 large banana plants taking over the kitchen. My snails have eaten the young fresh leaves on occasion but I am waiting for the plants to get established before using them as a regular food source. They grow like mad and will have to go out in the garden as soon as the weather is fit.

Banana plants will regrow if eaten down to the ground as long as the rootstock is undamaged (I know this courtesy of my rabbits!).

My snails love banana leaves, I have had banana tree since summer it's growing all the time. When it's was smaller I ould hear metres away that munching sound when they ate it, so times I give them little bit sloilt leaves. When plant starts to grow more I add it more regularry in they diet. People make in banana and grape leaves some food, so they maybe found in some shops too, but the plant is so beautiful and don't cost so much and grows quickly so easy to use that as food source.
