until recently I've not really had a problem with parasites, there've been a few odd ones in the tank just now and then, but not more than that... but anyway, the warm temperature has brought some to my biggest tank, I've a few questions to ask if anyone knows... firstly, if I keep all of my tanks together and one tanks got a problem with flies, will they all be contaminated? secondly, what phsical damage will they do to my snails? are my youngest snails more at risk? how can I tackle the problem, I've changed the compost in three of the tanks, and I'm going to be cleaning carefully and rigorously, but is there anything more you can do? (I've read the article on petsnails... thankyou for your help.

Flies won't actually harm the snails, they're just blooming annoying!!!........I hate the little buggers and they are very common, snail tanks are ideal warm and humid places for them to breed! I had loads of them at one point and I'd clean the snails out really regular but they'd always come back within a few days..........I then bought some tropical woodlice as a clean up crew for the tank and since then i haven't had any bother flies at all......the woodlice eat the left over food and snail poo,so there's nothing for the flies to feed on....it's great! ;D

woah, that sounds cool, I'd love to get some woodlice, but I don't think my sister'd be to happy, I'll definitely look into it though. I'm glad that they won't harm my snails though, I was actually so worried that I moved all of my smallest snails out of the tank.
