I've bought some pumpkin seeds for my snails. How is it best to feed them to the snails? Should I give them to them whole and raw, or should I soak them or grind them first?

I usually crush mine up with the end of a rolling pin, add a small amount of water and feed like a porridge!

Shai Ming liked the pumpkin seed mix so much, I thought I'd put in a few whole raw pumpkin seeds and see what he thought, and he went crazy for them! He sat there for ages munching on them, every time he finished one he went for another! ;D I'm not sure if any of the other snails gave them a try, but he definitely liked them - in fact he probably ate them all before the others had a chance ;D

I was put off from putting seeds in for mine as I gave my bunch of fulica mixed crushed seeds soaked in water, which they wolfed down, but two of the fulica then swelled up, one of them horrendously. A day or so later the swelling went down but the snail died within a few days. Some months later I tried them with plain porrage, well soaked in water, and again one of the snails swelled. Not so much, but still..... it put me off. I think I'll try the pumpkin seeds though.
I've posted about this before, a year or two ago on PetSnails, and I seem to recall someone else having a problem, but apart from that I've NEVER heard of anyone's snails experiencing problems with this kind of food, only good things.
Yep, I'll put pumpkin seeds on the list. I like them too!
