I have cuttle fish in with my GALS but was going to put in some egg shells too so they have some choice, should I put them in whole, or do they need crushing?

Hmm good question, I've never tried it so I'm not the best one to answer, but I would start off with a few large pieces and see how they go....

Either is fine ! I used to use a mortar and pestle and crush the egg shell into a quite fine sand, I used to keep it in a jar and sprinkle it on their food ! but if you think about it, if they couldn`t chomp it whole they couldn`t chomp it crushed either, it`d still be just as hard.....

Hi,
I tried to give it to my A. achatinas, but they always refused it, even when I ran out of cuttlefish.

They could be eating it when your not there though couldn`t they? I wouldn`t worry, as long as theres a source of calcium in there, they`ll eat it when theyt need it.

I use egg shells mostly for my old dog. I noticed at home that we have cheap pepper grinder, I was bored, I wanted to know how to open it, It was easy with screwdriver and I took peppers out, cleaned it but the glass bottle to oven so it dries faster. I put in crushed egg shell and tryied it made perfect little crushing shells, it's easy to refill when u opened in right places. I though I could buy nother one (it's something like 1euro or so the grinder with peppers) and take photos while I open it and even younger people can yet it more safely open. Which I didn't at first time, pepper corns where flying every where and vacuum cleaner smelled long time to pepper 'cos I have to clean those fallen corns away from floor. LOL
