I wonder which is best - to offer the snails a wide variaety at each meal time or to just fead them one type of food per day? Would a snail fed using the choice method lack nutrients if it chooses the same thing each time and ignores the rest? This research got me thinking..... mollus.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/58/1/49

I usually give them one or two foods per meal, but I never give them the same thing two days running, so that they won't get used to just eating one thing. I try to make sure that there's some variety and they're eating lots of different things.

I think moo is right :one or two types of food each day (or even every other day) will work fine.I never spoil my snails with a huge selection:they have to eat what I give them or else go hungry ... ;D

Hi,
I always give my snails 2 or 3 choices and they generally eat a bit of everything and most of one thing. They tend to eat a lot of chalk as well. Is anyone else here using chalk ? I've started using it last month and they consume a lot more than cuttlefish (I've had trouble finding some they would eat for a while, and found chalk so I gave it a try, and it is eaten... as for the efficiency in growth, I have no opinion yet).

Heehee - well they always seem pretty happy with their food I didn't want them getting too addicted to one or two things and refusing to eat anything else, so I try to vary it day to day... there's a kind of standard list of things they like that they get regularly, and now and then they'll have something different that they've eaten before. Sometimes I'll try them with something new - usually without much success! Though I did discover recently that they're fond of avocado

I read somewhere that they will pretty much fight over mango lol so I tried it, they did seem to like it but I had to refund the ring side seats, lol bit of a dish of ointment....

I put only new foods like 2 to 3 at same time in tank. If I put "old safe food" and new food, they eat the safe food and touches to "weird new one" only if they tummy don't fill up with the old food.. So I sometimes put two "good tasting safe to eat foods" at the same time or one they will eat them both then when they know it's good tasting. They start to be picky if I put new and old food in tank, weird lol or then they r really smart.
