I can`t say I`ve heard of hay, but sunflower hearts probably yes. They do like seeds, some are used to treat worms in wild caught specimins.

You can put hat in with the snails, I've known some folks to use hay from pet-shops and the snails have liked to hide under it. I don't think they eat it though, in the same way that they don't tend to eat grass.

Yes you could put your hat in there if you didn`t want it anymore they tend to enjoy a nice bowler hat over say, a stetson.... Here`s an idea you may not of heard of, snails luuurve porridge, make some up with luke warm water and put a shallow dish of it in there, you`ll be amazed how quickly they eat it !

yep they can eat hay, Dusk had considerable success feeding her snails hay, they seemed to love it.
they will take dried grass more readily than freshly mowed grass as well, just be sure you or your neighbours havent used any weedkilling substances around those areas.

No tried hay but mine like the sunflower hearts crushed in the mixer. They don't bother much with them whole. Also tried small dog biscuits. The jadatzis went mad for them when I put them in the other night.

Hat! oops sorry, haha. Well you know those old-fashioned posh lady's wih the fruit on? Just perfect. Ah I didn't know snails eat hay and dry grass. If only they ate the ends of fresh grass, every gardener would like snails then....

ive often wondered if those edible houses for chinchillas etc would be any good for snails Are they made from hay? The thing that would concern me with hay is that I would want to make absolutely certain that it's not been sprayed with pesticides. If it says 'organic' on the packaging then I would assume that it's safe.

Thanks for all the info ;D. Have put some whole sunflower hearts in, and it would appear that Agnes is very interested. If they don't go, will try blending them. Haven't tried hay yet, but think I shall give it a go

the chinchilla houses are made of edible wood, it must be pretty safe as chins are very sensitive little creatures, i may check it out more closely as some snails do like to rasp at wood.

If they like Sunflower seeds, you could try them on Pumpkin seeds too - plus these are a natural dewormer for snailies too ;D
