Me again.
It sounds like a no-brainer, but thought I'd better check.
Is aquarium sealant safe to use on tanks containing snails? I don't see why it wouldn't be perfectly safe once it's dried, but thought I'd ask anyhoo.

Yep, it's fine I've used it to fix decorations in place, although the bigger snails have managed to uproot them anyway.

That`s quite surprising depending on what you`ve fixed, silicone sealant makes a really good glue ! I`ve got a non related tip for you Infiltrator... Collect a few squash bottles, the more ridgid ones are better. Cut both ends off and bury a few of those in deep compost in your tank, hey presto, a nice cave system type doo daa aaaaand they love it... A bit of moss inside them, or over them, I compost right over the top of some of them, that way you still have loads of floor space. Oh and cut the edges at forty five degrees too, it looks better.....

If in doubt ask I think , there's no problem with aquarium sealant, it's used in many of our tanks here and I've never heard of any problems with it at all. I wondered the same thing though when I got my first tank for the snails That's a cool tip Feebix

Well, I managed to get hold of some Geocel sealant in a local pet shop (This is a local pet shop for local people![/leagueofgentlemen]). Last night I set about sealing the vents at one end and along the back of the lid of Sampson's pals pen - I've also sealed around the temp sensor cable that I had to drill a 10mm hole for, and is cable-tied to the still vented end. So he's got a Really Useful Box lid taped in place atop his tank at the mo, wedged down with a coir block to reduce the gap between the two. Only another 36hrs or so until I can stick it all back together. The things you should think of before you get your snail! It'll be worth it in the end
