Damn, I'm just chock full o' questions, aren't I? Okay, I'd already got an aquarium for when our snaily pal outgrows his little tank, which will be fine and dandy once I've bought a vivarium lid for it. Running the length of the tank near the top are those glass support bars for aquarium use. The edges haven't been finished with a bevel and so are kinda sharpish. Has anyone managed to pull these out, would an edging strip be okay, are they fine as they are and I should stop worrying, or am I gonna have to resort to firing up my trusty dremel to bevel them myself? Any advice appreciated.

How sharp? A snail can crawl across a knife edge, though I would never like to put anything sharp in with mine.... But really, if you can touch it without the risk of injury to yourself then any snail you place in there should be fine. For a suitable lid some of us here have had glass cut specially, not very expensive, I use corrugated plastic sign-board - just like corrugated cardboard only plastic. I can cut it to size with scissors, drill air holes in.... But I will be changing to glass whehn I've saved up! Nothing wrong with questions, better than struggling I think

Now what does that leave `ol Feeby with to say?! lol As Aliensnail says Infiltrator, glass laid on top of those ledges is a good idea, I`ve done that with all of my tanks, glass on two and thickish perspex on the other, all cut so there`s barely a gap. Actually one tank has a gap and I have a second peice of glass I`ve cut so I can slide it along and control the size of the gap Perspex works out cheaper but only if you can cut it yourself I think... Aaaaaah cue a picture of my larger tank......

I later discovered I really didn`t need those holes in the top......
