Using Capillary matting for a transitional period could be a wise move, When the flies have dispersed re-introduce the moss. Using Capillary matting negates the need for moss as obviously it retains a substantial amount of water. Many keepers in Germany have taken to sole use of Capillary matting with a small clump of moss or tray of Soil for egg laying etc. Regards Serug

I think the snails are more comfortable with something natural to burrow in, but you can keep them on capillary matting without any problems, I think. I've had my fulicas on capillary matting for a couple of weeks recently and they've been fine.

I don't think you couldn't get rid of all off them I have had flies always in some way tried to keep towels for week and everything. Then there was less of them and now is more. So in my house those are summer things so I don't mind of them.
