One of my snails seems to have damaged the underside of his shell, although i can't think how! it looks like he has scr@pped it over something rough. and the only rough thing is the cuttle fish in the tank, he does not seem to be fixing it, i noticed a couple of days ago, and i have not had him long, he was perfect when he arrived, do you think he will fix himself, or should i "patch" him up?

I assume it's not gone all the way through the shell, just the surface layer?

Old snails will repair their shell slower than youngsters. My adults have scr@pe marks on their shell but they don't mind their appearance and they are happy. Hope your snail is soon ok.

Leave him to it, there`s nothing you can do anyway, he`ll be fine, as long as the shell isn`t actually smashed, they`re fine

I'll take a photo of a few of mine later with some shell damage, see if it compares to your Retic. It does sound like he'll be just fine. x

Try not to worry, they do a very good job at repairing damage, they really do
