Cat biscuits can be - they're higher in protein than most snail foods so make a good occasional food but don't replace fresh fruit/veg. It's usually recommended you soak them first, though mine have occasionally hunted down and eaten dry ones too Mine get James Wellbeloved, same as my cats. I'm not sure about wet food - some species seem more interested in meat than others. If you try it, it would probably be best to try an all-meat food like applaws or almo nature.

I rather not give biscuit to even cat/dogs or arketfood. Here pet food in foodmarket is made of grain that's why it's so cheap. Cats and dog mostly eat meat, so I don't anymore buy food for my dog same shop that I buy mine. I tryied to give to my snails quality soaked dogpellets, but they just nibble it a little and I changed the food. And I neither give any grain to my snails.

Well, cheap food full of rubbish is bad for all species Good quality food is another matter entirely. Cats mostly eat meat; dogs eat more of a mixture. I'm curious as to why no grain for snails... it seems to be in their diet in the wild and most seem to really enjoy snail mash. Is there a reason you prefer not to feed it?

Cos they won't eat in nature, it swells alot and can make blockage. Even for humans if you don't eat high fibre grain it won't comeout you body. :/

What about soaked dog biscuits? Are they all right? My dog eats little meaty chunks that I think my snails would like. Obviously I'll check the salt content to make sure, is a there a certain amount of salt they can take in or is it none at all?

I would not would give any salt for snails, it really popular in snail traps use salt mixed some other liquids. So I think it's safer for snails to not give anything salty and salt dries body too so it's not good for humans neither get too much salt.

Right. I have little dog biscuits. If do I have to soak them, mush them up or just give it to them as is?

I usually soak them and let them expand a bit before serving

My dog has Applaws. It needs special way to soak them 'cos they are pressed really tight so if you use for snails Applaws it needs to have boiling hot water and lid and it takes quite long them to soak. In normal temperature water food won't start to soak at all. :]

I use bakers dog food or james well beloved cat food (Dried). I put a few pieces in a dish and pour some warm water on (a couple of table spoons) and it normally takes about 10 mins to absorb. My dogs and cats have meat but the dried specialist foods have exact amounts of protein etc in so they have bowls of it that they can help themselves too through the day and they have their meat at dinner time. I generally only give it to immacs as they need the higher protein level food over other snails but some of my others enjoy it too so they have it every so often. . . . As for grain, generally only very cheap budget cat or dog food would have this in and ive never bought this for my cats and dogs so ergo my snails have never had it. Although giving snails a diet of grain would be very bad, all inverts etc have a small percentage of their food in the wild made up by grain so i wouldn't be too concerned that you're feeding your snails badly if they do get some dried food with a small grain ratio in. It won't harm them unless you feed it to them exclusively all of the time. As for salt, if you use the good quality dried foods that's not a problem. Wet dog or cat food, i've never tried to be honest..... don't think i want to. The idea makes me go alittle squeemish. I grind up a few pieces of dog biscuit, hemp and pumpkin seeds, soak it for a little while and then add very finely grated sweet potato...... every week they eat it all and they are wormed. They all seem to really enjoy it............. apart from a couple of fussy eaters but even they eat most of it. Good snailies......... they can't resist the dog food (Immacs mostly) and the others can't resist the sweet potato..... sneaky sneaky wormy wormy. I put wormer tablets in liver pate for the cats and cheese for the dogs. Take their tablets and bever even know about it. Sneaky sneaky.

I bought some wet food today 'cos it was my dogs birthday, but it has onion in that food. So I can't try it. I googled grain and in Africa there's not farmed same grains as in colder countries like in Europe so I think that grain which is in some bad quality cat/dog food I won't give to snails. Corn is in family of grain that's only thing what I'm giving to my snails and I tried millet which is grown in Africa too snails didn't like it. Hihi hiih my dog is so stubid that she knows few times of year you have to eat for some reason some tablets.. And I don't need to even hide them she can eat them with out food too.

I bought today one serving of wet cat food in small bag. It was as good quality as could be in normal Finnish food market. I bought food for sensitive eaters. I have tradition to put on Fridays some protein food for them so I'll try would they eat it. I'll let you know tomorrow do they eat it, it's chicken. Protein in that food is about 14 or 17%.
