Well can terrarium be too slippery? =D Well I week ago disinfected snail terrariums week ago because I found mites. Now terrarium are nice and shiny. Well I wiped walls after 3 to 4days later again really shiny. Well the problems is or should I say my snails problem is that neither of my biggest can't climb on wall they get to middle of it and gravity takes it's hold then they try to keep on climbing and they just slide back down to ground. My biggest snails weigh is 205grams and 245grams. One Finnish keeper told that it could be too much of humidity in tank. But well eh humidity is all the time about 75-85% and lid is metal mesh so walls dry out really soon after spraying. I know I can't do anything about it but really weird discovery, what do you think?

I do not think that humidity in the tank keeps your snails from sliding down. My snails crawl through the mist colllected at the glass an leave sort of a dry trail behind.
Some snails just don't feel like climbing high.
Did your snails do so before your clean up? Maybe there is something like "bad taste" from your disinfectant on the glass which they want to avoid?

My snails just slide down from the walls because after hibernation they produce more slime than normally for moment. Now they can climb everywhere and stay on the walls.. I just don't then understand what was that other keepers problem with her snails.

Could it just be there so heavy? I have a 6"inch snail, and he never tries to climb all the way up, he sort of sticks to and stays there just so his apex is touching the soil.

My smaller snails climb no matter how wet or dry the sides are but my big snails like my margies very rarely go up the glass and i have never seen my big tigers climb the glass, i have seen my medium size snails climb and slide back down just after cleaning could it just be when we clean them out we take all the dried slime and dirt off the tanks and its the dry slime and dirt that helps them to grip? x

As Sticks says the larger snails sometimes have trouble climbing.
My largest do climb up the sides but don't tend to bother much with the lid now.
My megalobulimus are not very sticky, they just don't grip well. They climb the glass but sometimes slide down it, and they never even try to hang from the lid.
Occasionally I see a snail that's climbed the glass and is resting, falling asleep, and it will slide down and end up at the bottom. It's comical to see them wake up and look around, as if to figure out what just happened ;D

I wouldn't like carrying a heavy rucksack up a cliff i suppose it is the same for the bigger snails their shell is thicker and heavier I will have to re weigh my tigers to see what they weigh and the margies then see what my fulis and retics that do still climb weigh. I will do it now before i forget x
