Hi everyone, I noticed on a website it said feeding tortoise pellets to snails was good. I might buy a tin on Saturday, but I want to find out if it's worth the £3? Please vote on the poll and tell me in a post which species you own love it, like it, hate it. I would greatly appreciate it I've only been on SS for a few days, and already I love it. Also, how do you serve it?? Can you just feed it or does it have to be crushed and mushed? ( ;D By that I mean softened by water lol) Has there ever been any cases of snails getting ill or anything after eating it? Thanks, sorry for all the Q's, just want to be prepared! Courtney

It depends what it's ingredients are. Hard to say, there's some many brands and types of them.

I recently got some turtle food for my snails. I saw one a site that some people feed them shrimp-like food. I checked the container and didn't find any salt in the ingredients. I haven't fed it to them yet. I wanted to ask if it is safe to give it to them and if i need to soak it first? The bottle ingredients say: proteins: 32% fat: 4,5% crude fiber: 6,5% crude ash: 38% Website description: Now with food sticks containing fish! Balanced mixture of dried crustaceans, insects and sticks. Main food for all turtles, incl. pond turtles, in temperate zones. Supplementary food for tropical pond turtles, birds and other carnivorous terrarium animals. And it looks like this:

I'm not 100% sure, but people feed their snails fish flakes. As long as there is no salt in it, it should be fine. That being said, some foods have salt in them and as long as it's a very small amount, it doesn't seem to bother snails.

If I try new foods for my snails I always check to see what salt content they have and what wheat / grain content and what additives, if they contain either or a lot of additives I steer clear.
Ive not tired feeding turtle or tortoise feed so I cant help you on these but i do periodically feed fish flakes but there not a snail fave at least not with this lot. Boiled or scrambled mashed egg well that's another thing that's snail party time lol.

Well this is the webpage of the product i have: www.jbl.de/?lang=en&mod=products&func=detail&id=2531It seems to have only one additive: Colorant Iron Oxide Red E172 I got the smallest option so it wasn't that expansive. If it's totally not ok i'll donate it to someone i know who has a turtle

Anyone any idea yet about the food? I want to try it because i haven't given my snails any protein stuff so far. Unless they somehow were able to catch a fly.

Some people on a facebook group feed these. So i dont see the harm in feeding them.

Ok. I have put a spoon in some water to soak. I wonder if they will eat it.

I've never tried tortoise pellets before, though I can imagine them taking at least a few nibbles.
