hi i think one of my albopicta land snail has went into hiberntion theres a white coating over the opening of his shell i am really worried he has never done it before i this i the second day as far as i know how do i wake him up i will get a pic and upload it soon x please help !!!!

Don't panic!!........Place him in some warm water and gently crack off the crusty bit....... Sounds like he's maybe getting too cold or too dry.........try upping the temp a bit in his tank.and make sure he's got some warm water if he wants it!

i dont have a heatmat better go and get one how is it i get off the crusty bit off without hurting him i have never done this before x

You don't have to pull the crusty bit off. I let my snails hibernate, it's more natural for them. I know CroSSleSS lets her snails hibernate in the winter. I'd get a heat mat and try and heat it up, maybe make it a bit more humid to.

i have turned up my heating just now til i get one how long should they hibernate for can they not die during it i will be buying all my snails a heatmat now x

thanks for ur help spook and alisha well after his warm bath and i have put my heating up hes out of hibernation theres a white coating in the tank but all is good and i am so happy to see him x ;D

Only if they're ill or weak and can't cope with it. If you just leave it, turn up the heating and give him some food, he'll wake up when he's ready.
I suppose if you get a heatmat that can be turned down low enough to suit their needs it would be OK. It might keep the heat more stable as well.
