I have two A. immaculata, they are about 10 months old now. They seem very happy and healthy. I was looking for poop and eggs, and looking very carefully on the substrate, I started noticing tiny white worms there. At first, I thought they might be sciarid fly larvae (I've had those for a long time in my house plants), but if I remember correctly, those are much bigger, and one can see very clearly a black eye on the top of the body. These little buggers are so small, that I can't see any eye or anything else but their stringy body. I was looking online about biological pest control for sciarid flies (I thought I might buy some Hypoaspis mites to at least control them), and I found pictures of nematodes (for instance: www.biohelp.at/biohelp_h/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=16&Itemid=22 ), and then I saw in another website ( www.gireaud.net/us/ennemis_us.htm ) that there are such little buggers that can actually kill my snails... How on earth can I tell whether these little buggers are good guys or bad guys for my snails? ( I also wanted to ask if I could also get these nematodes that are used against sciarid flies to prevent mites from invading my snails)...

They're probably just the nematodes you get with left over food. However you mentioned in a previous post you used soil so something more nasty may have been brought in but i doubt it. I recommend just cleaning the tank out and putting fresh stuff in and making sure to remove any old food and you should be fine. keep an eye out for snails showing deep retraction or anything which could indicate that they are being irritated by these nematodes.
