Ok, over at Petsnails I've dedicated a lot of time to documenting snaily funniness and silliness. But they deserve a photo thread for beauty too. Here are a few of the most recent pics I've taken of my snails. I think they show the beauty of snails both still and moving. Of course it's not a proper beauty thread without my dear Mauno (Achatina balteata) who keeps on getting bigger and fatter and staying photogenic. He got a slight growth defect in the shell when he sealed himself in after I moved him to a new tank, but I think he's working on smoothing it out. Baby: "Eew slimy dad-mom kisses!" These lovelies I'm keeping. That's Paavo on the right, the one on the left with one eye straight at the camera is called Troglodyte (that's what you get when you ask someone to randomly name a snail). Moments after I released my wild caught snails back into their home tank, and moments before the two snails who are still awake did what Grandpa Jyrki on the left already has - they pulled their eyes in, and slept for hours in full view. Silly Jyrki though for having crashed into the other snails, hehe. Baby fulica acrobatics practise time (sorry it's blurry). The one stretching has a glow like that because they were placed right under the LED lights of the tank. I'd really love to see other people's favourite beautiful pics of their own snails!

Thanks very much! Snails are overall more interesting than they get credit for, even I learned that only after I'd actually had snails as pets for a while even though I'd loved them for much longer. Every day I find myself appreciating both how funny they are and how beautiful they are.

You have some lovely snailies Etana. Yes they are very interesting. My hubby hates they, think he needs to get out more. They are great pets for kids, very easy to look after.

Mauno has learned to stick to plastic plants in the tank if he's not up for photo shoots, but he's grown so much after this thread again, it's crazy. I hope I can persuade him to pose for me soon again!

Hahah yes, he is He didn't get the nickname Dolce Gabbana for nothing, lol. Oh well, the longer he sticks to the leaves or the glass so tightly that I can't take him without fearing I'll hurt him, the bigger and fatter he will be in his next photos when I finally can get good ones again.

Very good Etana love, does he know what his nick name is LOL? I love seeing them enjoy their food and getting plump, it is the sign of a happy and contented smailie.

Haha Jo, he sure seems aware of it! He danced on my hand today, almost like he was the most graceful snailie ever. Too bad I didn't have the camera near. His shell is nearing 11cm!

Oh wow, I am speechless, what a beautiful little snailie and he probably knows it. I cannot wait to hold mine and feel their cute little foot sliding and dancing along.
