I got myself a but of a bargin on ebay. Gor the viv wil loads of extras for a silly low price. Lined it with a nice vinyl and put nice stuff in for my lovelies, They have been in a snaily weekend away to our house in scotland and come back to a new home. Think they will like it. Lol my hubby thinks I am a bit sad.

Doea anyone know a good way of getting heat through the viv side. I know gladd is better. I have a mat on the side and temp put a smaller one on one of the doors at moment as it wasn't very warm when we got home. Any ideas are much appreciated. X

Your new tank looks amazing! I have a large vivarium too! Do you keep the heat mat(s) on the inside or outside of the tank? I keep my heat mats inside and it really helps. I also recommend using insulation (tin foil, bubble wrap, polystyrene...) to keep the heat it. I will send you a picture of my viv soon.

It is on the outsid3. Wasn't sure wearher to put it on the inside or not. I usually put insulation around when the weather is colder but think I might need to put some on. Ir was warm last week and wasn't a problem. Will move the mat to the inside. Are your snails on with it on the inside.

I have my heatmats outside the tanks, taped tightly against the glass and a piece of cheap insulation board against them (and on top of the tanks, and some fabric thrown over the whole thing), works great for me including in the winter.
If you have your heatmats inside the tank, make sure that they are moisture safe and they don't get too hot for snail feet (a good indicator is your own hand) as they're very likely to investigate it at some point.

I have found a heat mat holder on ebay. It is designed to go inside a viv. The description says it has 2 glass faces and the mat sits inside to stop moisture getting through so should be like having a mat on the outside of a glass tank. Have orderes one and a mat to fit inside it. Fingers crossed.

Great looking Snailie home!.. I've always put mats on the outside,i think it's safer for the snails that way. But always insulate it... and i have a towel over the top of the tank to also help keep the heat in

Got my hands a heat mat holder.it is made by the same people that made my viv and is designed to fit inside. It is like a flass pocket where the mat sticks to the inside and will run up to the roof for the wire to fit through. Both heat mat and wire are protected by rhe glass. So it willbe like having a mat on a glass tank. Will take pics when I have fit it.
