Hi everyone wondering if I could get some info? I have 3 baby tiger snails coming this week and I'm seeing up their tank atm it's currently 28 degrees C and 80% humidity with about 3 inches of soil. I'should this okay or should I adjust something? X

Yeah, it should be warm like that. They'll be digging a lot when young, so make sure your heating is *not* under the tank but on a wall (or coming from above)! It won't be bad if the humidity climbs above the 80%, also the coir can be a bit wetter than usual. Mine always poop in their tunnels and also eat each others' poops, so be prepared for a different kind of clean up routine. They also pull food into their tunnels to rot, it's good times finding it, lol. But yay Tigers! Be sure to post pics!!

I keep mine around 26-28 degrees, and at 90%+ humidity.
What you've described sounds fine. Mine enjoy a bed of live moss to sit in. They will dig and disappear if you put in too much substrate but I think this down to your preference.

Personally I think tigers should be allowed to dig to their heart's content. My big guy Gaius switched his tunnels for his flowerpot cave when he was already huge, and he no longer digs anymore, but I think generally it's just something they may have quite a drive to do.

Likewise, Etana. I can't recommend Retics enough if someone wants a large snail that'll always be on show. Mine rarely dig unless laying.

Yeah my retics haven't dug at all yet, and they're super friendly I'll add more coir just to make sure the tigers have enough x

A lot of mine are struggling at the moment to find personal space so they are burying themselves frequently. Hopefully after Zorst comes to collect her snailies in June there will be a lot more room and the snailies left will have hidey places.

It's very normal for snails to bury, in the wild they are open to predators if they sleep while on the ground. So they find holes or dig, many years ago when I was a little girl I would find four or more snails buried in the holes of walls. They would hide under bushes or thick branches and I would find them buried under the soil in my garden area. So it only makes sense that a large snail would bury into the soil so it won't get "eaten"

Well I done a test on digging as I was investigating a case on conditional stimuli and unconditional stimuli. My snail is a Achatina reticulata.
When I removed the snails hideout ( fake log with hole through it) the second night without it the snail started to burrow.
3 days after putting the hide back in (same position as last) the snail returned to its hide.
Now this is not conclusive evidence as this would have to be repeated many many times including during different seasons and age groups to provide accurate evidence.
Occasionally my youngling still likes to burrow but as it ages its less and less.
Hope this helps.

My hatchlings certainly have a tendency to burrow rather than the adults. My adults do occasionally or go to the top of the tank for what I assume is for some me time lol!
