I was just wondering how big everyone else's tubs are? I have one 64ltr with my retic and jadatzi (for the time being) but I am hoping to expand my snail family quite a bit soon and I think I'm going to need an upgrade or atleast another tub (or two) but I'm getting so frustrated looking for a tub when I'm not even sure what I'm looking for! All of the bigger capacity ones seem to be really tall

Don't know if you have an Ikea store near where you live? They have lots of plastic storage boxes that don't cost much and they come in different seizes. www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/categories/series/12553/I think it's quite normal for storage boxes to also go up in hight as the content is more. I don't keep big snails, i have small ones and they live in a terrarium so can't give much advice on that.

The problem I've found with the Ikea boxes before (not for snail keeping) are that the lids aren't very secure, almost like they just rest on top rather than clip onto the box which could be an issue but I may end up having to figure out a solution because they do look quite good proportionally. I wish these companies would consider their dimensions for snails!

Ah I've just found they do clips to go onto their boxes to hold the lid on! This might be problem solved then!

I've ran into this problem with tanks that often focus on height more so than length, so you just have to compare local stores online and then head there in person to choose the tank closest to your needs.

Retics won't mind a taller box.
Have you checked Wilko (UK)? They normally do decent, large tubs. I'm sorry I can't be much help.

My current retic is very much a ground dweller, he very rarely scales the sides. I like the idea of having more length to pay around with hides and such aswell, even though my current tub isn't small it already feels over crowded with just a few fake plants! What also concerns me a little is how populated can one tub be really? With being an avid fishkeeper aswell I'm extremely used to worrying about over population causing stunting and thats the last thing I'd want to do

I only have 4 small snails and they are in quite a big container 60w x 30l x 35d (cm). I would say, go with your gut feeling on seize. Personally i don't like the standard seizes that are recommended at stores for keeping animals. Most cages, containers, terrariums are way to small if you ask me. I have a LOT of snails in my garden. I often see them crossing my garden on a day and that's quite the distance. So i placed them in a big terrarium so they can also slide around and not hit the side after a few seconds.

Bigger is definitely always better, pet stores are notorious for miss selling stocking guidelines unfortunately Sounds like your 4 are living in paradise though!
