I read about not putting hard decorations in to prevent breakage when they fall. But i wonder. Is there something to worry about if they do fall? The snail isn't hurt because she fell down on the soil. I did hear a small tick against the glass. But i checked the shell and she seemed fine.
Is this something that just happens sometimes or could this be related to an issue? I get a bit worried that these slug mites maybe made them feel bad or something and made it fell down?

Sometimes snails fall out of pure clumsiness when trying to reach something, and Cepaea often fall when their dry slime fails to keep them glued to the wall when they sleep. Both of those reasons are common and nothing to worry about in itself. However sometimes snails do fall due to feeling bad, so it is good to check the fallen snail for other symptoms. I hope the mite issues will be resolved very soon.

Hmm well it could be because of the dry surface. I thought about that as well. The thank is all new set up and i noticed that the moist levels aren't right yet. I misted the tank a couple of times now but the ceiling where the snail was was kinda dry at that spot. He was sleeping there for some time before he fell. He did a ride trough the entire tank before so i don't think a sick snail would slide around that much? I hope these little buggers will be gone soon as well. So far the snails didn't really act much different than they usual do. I have one snail that does fall sometimes but i think that one is actually clumsy. Sometimes he climbs leafs of plants and then drops down with the leaf because he's to heavy.

Yeah it sounds like the slime just failed.
Lol I've seen clumsy snails like that too. The biggest A. fulica I ever had was a bit too good at testing how much weight/pull my ideas for decorations could take. Embarrassingly often she discovered flaws in them and ended up in the soil making grumpy faces.

Haha yeah i hope my setup is all safe and sail proof. I hope they don't fall down with anything. I'm going to place some moss where the snail fell because the kinda dropped right between the glass and the foot of that plant. That foot looks like it's made of some type of clay. So to prevent future possible accidents...

It would also be weird in a way that these mites would have caused it. Because as far as i see i acted pretty quick. I see them running around on the snails but not in big numbers. Mostly only 1 or 2. So i don't think they are really infested a lot yet. So maybe it doesn't affect their health yet as it is in an early stage.

One of my snails just fell down again... I get the idea that they are just very clumsy. This one was awake but turning around on the top of my tank. All of a sudden i hear a tick against the glass and when i look i saw her rolling down the hill. Poor thing! She seemed fine tho. Gave her a nice shower and she really seemed to enjoy it a lot! Put her back, she ate a bit and slided off. It always makes me jump when i hear one falling down. I think this happens quite often? They don't seem sick to.

Heya, mine fell al the time when they were younger, then no t so much, then again then they became hefty and couldn't hold themselves to the roof anymore I've never really had any issues when they fall as they often fall into food they were trying to get or soil etc. There was one point when Apollo was piggy backing Jim whp was trying to kiss windy, at which point he fell off the roof (hefty snails) onto Apollo and windy :l all were fine with a few minor dents, but it goes to show snails will not allow themselves to be safety proofed Hoe yours continue to be okay!

Well i notice when they sleep they somehow crawl into their shell more and more till they hang up there with just a tiny part of their foot op there. Others hang on the roof with the slime but as it dries out, they also come loose. That's how they usually fall. I've never seen my Helix fall down but all the cepaea do. Not like on a daily bases but they fall like once a week or so. These are full grown haha.

Sometimes I hear a "clonk" and think "Oh dear" and go and see if all is OK. To date I am glad to say that the little loves have always been fine.

Ah the clonk, if they could talk I'm sure it'd be followed by an ow Haha, first a faint 'aaah' then 'clonk' then 'awww' They are sleeping over a moss mat atm. So if they fall they will land soft.

Ooo is that like a carpet of moss or moss put into a carpet ( if that makes any sense ) as I was looking at getting one of those moss carpets but wanted to know if they like them or not? X

X It's an actual carpet of moss. The bottom layer is soil and the moss is on it. You have to soak it and then push most water out and just lay it where ever you want. I use it on the soil where it even grows roots sometimes. Other pieces are on their hidings spots. Because of the mat texture it is very easy and pretty to use. You can see it at the topic with the tank setup pictures.
