I knew this would happen before long, one of my snailies has a badly damaged shell. It is the new growth on his right hand side and whilst it is all still there, it is badly split. Is there anything I can do for him please? Otherwise he seems fine. Thanks so much.

Aww, did the poor dear fall or bump it? True though that it'll happen to every snail owner at some point.
He should be able to repair it, just make sure he gets his calcium and vitamin d (egg) and let him sleep if he wants to. The growth edge is the "best" place to break because it's the easiest to repair. Let us know how things go.

Thank you so much Etana love, I am afraid he fell. I heard this massive clonk in the night and luckily was awake. It was a bit difficult to tell which snaily it was at first but I just looked for the one which looked most likely to have fallen and sure enough, his little shell is cracked. I will make sure they get plenty of calcium and egg. They always have calcium powder anyway with their food and I will make some extra egg up for him and put him in front of it.
I will keep you updated hunni.

Has he started the repair yet? There might already be some very thin, new shell forming. Or you might see that he's smoothed out the damage. Either way there should be a little bit of visible change already.

Yes there is Etana hun, I think a repair has started as it looked a lot more stable when I checked him yesterday. I will check again today to make sure everything is going the right way. Hugs Jo xx
