How awful for you Picklepies love and I am so very sorry. Seeing them die like that and you being such a great snaily mum. It happens to us all at some point; I kept snails many moons ago and I couldn't keep them alive, I think sometimes they are just only meant to be with us for a short time but it doesn't take away the pain. I hope you are OK. Good luck with the new babies and please keep us informed.

Thank you Jo, I still hope windy and get through this, maybe baby snailies will help, he did eat a bit of mashed baanana and sweet potato and, so it's looking up and my beautiful tigers have just come out of hibernation so at least I'm not completely devoid of snailies, though i will miss my little clan of misfits xx

So sorry for your loss. Maybe they had post egg laying exhaustion too, though that doesn't explain the baby. What is the chemical that they may have gotten in touch with?

You are welcome love and I am so pleased that Windy is eating something at least. You are right, he may come to life now he sees the other snailies coming out of hibernation. I must admit that the egg laying process looks really tiring Etana love, nature is always so cruel.

Yup Jo, it still amazes me that my Margies actually push out those eggs the size of their whole heads. A huge Fulica mommy laying a couple hundred small eggs is more easily understood, though that too takes so long , no wonder they can be unwell afterwards.

Windy's still hanging on in there which is good I think there may have been pesticides in the soil I couldn't get hold of any coir so I used garden centre soil, was told by the staff there was no pesticides, but they deteriorated too quickly after the soil was added to be much of a coincidence In happier news my babies arrived today, and they are beautiful, something about baby snails just lifts any mood I'll post photos as soon as my phone cooperates

Babies do give us a new lease of life don't they love, they lift our spirits? They sound adorable and I hope they are settling in well. It looks as if they are struggling Etana when they are laying eggs. I want to help but obviously there is nothing we can do. Soil squeeze out sometime over the weekend as the little naughties keep tipping their water bowl over and it is very wet in there. I must order some more coir next week.

Thank you for all your lovely words. I now have baby retics laid by the adults before they passed, and the new snailies are doing wonderfully. I now know that the soul definitely can not be used, and hopefully I'll have these snails for a long time as well I have also completely forgot how to post photos 🙈 x
