My strange, strange snail Little Selena has passed away. I named her after my friend.
Little Selena was an unfortunate Achatina fulica baby. One day I was closing the tank door, and had already closed it pretty far when I saw a bloated snail face looking at me from between the top of the door and the tank edge! Horrified, I opened the door and she fell down.
I thought she had died, but no, she did not. She was squirming and bubbling, but not bleeding, and her shell was intact. I gave her the name and decided that she would go if she had to, but I didn't have the heart to euthanize as she had fight in her. She indeed stayed with me for two years after the incident.
She didn't like the other snails much, she spent lots of time alone, and she really tried to eat me when I held her (I have a video of this). She also grew a unique shell that I now can always keep.
I simply found her dead the other day.
Bye, you strange snail Little Selena. If there is a snaily heaven, maybe you can now get along with other snails there.

Oh Etana love I am so sorry to hear this but she had a great two years with you of good food, love and so much more. It is always so sad when they go; we never get used to it but everyone here understands exactly how upset you are and I am sending virtual cuddles.
Lots of love Jo xxx

Thanks Jo. Somehow I'm more ok with this than I've been with many other deaths. She was a snail who shouldn't have survived, so I was a little surprised every time I saw her being her odd little self in some corner. Of course I miss her, though.

You are very welcome love, she had two happy years with you and that is what she will be remembering at snaily rainbow bridge. It was someone's theory once that animals go to their own place, I sincerely hope this isn't true, I want to be with all my babies when I go.
Hugs Jo xx

Sorry to hear this, I'm sure she's in snaily heaven! She sounds like a very interesting little character, it seems to be the damaged or odd little ones that hold our hearts in ways others simply don't.

Thanks Zorst & Tigerzeus. Yeah, she was a true little character. I am having no luck finding the pics but then again I think I have thousands of snail photos so I'll keep looking.
