Stay safe everyone if your in the path of Hurricane Ophelia as she hits Ireland and the UK. I'm located where she will first hit land again on the Irish coast, saying that we've prepared as much as we can and this property is over 200 yrs old and has survived as bad / worse. Our Animals are all safely inside solid structures and no big tree's near anything also being on the side of a mountain we will get very wet but thankfully we dont flood as the water carries on down past us to the valley bottom.
I checked all the Snail release points and the collonies that set up around them and made sure they were as safe and protected as possible I also placed snails deeper into the stone walls and put food inside there hidy holes for them so hopefully they will be safely tucked out of the way of the hurricane.
I will likely be away from the site for a few days whilst this go's on as our power will likely go down, we have been forwarned from the electricty board about it and know from past experience that high winds mess up the local power grid. Anyway I'll post again when I'm able to hopefully it wont be to long.
Stay safe everyone

Thank you for the kind email Zorst love and I am giving thanks that I am living where I am now. We have very gusty winds but it is not cold, but I really hope that you are alright I was watching the weather forecast last night and I thought of you and prayed that you and your little ones are safe and sound. Thank you too hunni for checking the snaily release points and they are going to be as safe as possible. Animals usually know of an impending disaster long before we do, sometimes I wish our senses were as astute because so many lives would be saved. Take care Zorst love and I look forward to hearing that you are OK.
Love Jo xx

Well we survived it though we lost about a dozen 40 to 60 ft tall spruce trees , some metal sheets off the barn roof and the trees that came down took down part of the fence line to the chicken runs. All the animals and birds are safe happy n healthy, the snail release points were also safe as they were pretty protected anyway and high enough to be away from any of the excess of water.
We did loose the electrics etc but that was to be expected and we now have them back. The kids thought it great to be camping inthe house and no school. Now its just a case of the massive clear up before the next lot of weather hits.
Glad your ok Jo and hope that everyone else was as well.

I am glad that everyone is happy and healthy Zorst love but I am sorry about your trees and roofs. To kids, anything like this is an adventure for them and I so wish I could go back to those days. It is called being a Gown-Up I'm afraid LOL! Thank you Zorst hunni, I am not too bad as it goes. I think myself very lucky not to live somewhere that can be so hostile, although unbelievably beautiful at the same time. Chat soon.

Sorry I've been off ine for a while we had the power off again whilst they replaced a load of the electric lines damaged during the Hurrican.
I'll be off line again for a while when they start to replace the damaged phone lines in the next few days, it depends on when they get to our part of the valley.
They got everything up and running on tempory phone and electricity lines now whilst they have some good weather they decicded to replace all these temp repairs with new lines before the winter weather really hits.
So its all fun and games here for the time being and were still clearing trees that were bought down. Anyway I'll be about on the forum when I can for the next short while.
Hope everyone and their snails are all well.

It is so nice to hear from you love, I suspected you were having problems and I am glad you managed to get some temporary power. We aren't too bad here at all thank you for asking hunni, I am feeling very Christmassy as it is my favourite time of year. Snailies are all thriving and greedy as ever, I love seeing everyone in the food bowl at once LOL!
