They grow up so fast! Look at him now! He still bites my hands. Most of my baby snails stop doing that after a couple times but I think he associated it with getting food. It's okay though, his mouth can't possibly harm me. Attachments:

He is gorgeous Etana hunni. I love it when they rasp my hand, it does not feel like a bite more of a loving kiss. Hugs Jo xx

Montezuma is doing well. He keeps on growing and he comes to the front of the tank most evenings. Today I rubbed a bit of coconut oil onto his shell to give it some extra shine, and he looked at me like "what is this that you are doing, human?!", not impressed at all! He seems to be quite the little character. I don't know just what had happened the other night that warranted Gaius to discipline him by sitting right on top of him with his huge foot! I did interfere because it looked so wrong, but maybe the snails thought it was right. He'll probably mellow out when he gets big enough, but until then, he's so much fun!

I am so glad he is doing so well Etana love but sorry to hear that he didn't like the oil being rubbed onto his shell. If I were a sail I think I would find that soothing LOL! Oh dear, I wonder what he did wrong, perhaps being cheeky and not respecting his elders Hugs JO xx

Lol yes, let me tell you, he remains the only one who's made angry faces at me for using the coconut oil! Everyone else seems perfectly calm about it! That's very likely that he was cheeky, haha. Especially since normally Gaius is so patient with everyone.

There is always one isn't there Etana love, who is permanently grumpy? They are like people with their different characters and we have all known someone with a grumpy face lol? Perhaps Gaius thinks he is a cheeky youngster who needs putting in his place LOL!

They grow up so fast!! Today Montezuma was having his first ever sleepless day, chasing another snail around - and when I took a closer look, I saw he had a faint white spot on his cheek. He's pre-pubescent! He's at least about a year old and Tiger snails develop more slowly than others, but just the other day I was telling my bf about their long baby phase, which is now over for him. His shell looks a bit bad, possibly from having all the big snails sit on him for some reason, it seems he is a cheeky little character indeed and the others discipline him a lot. I hope he'll sort it out and grow into a big and beautiful snail. I rubbed castor oil into his shell, and this time he didn't get as grumpy with me as he did when I gave him coconut oil. I'll also be handing over extra egg yolk for vit D. I just wonder how he'll feel when he realizes that Gaius is the one he should be making new snails with! Their size difference is pretty huge as Gaius fills my entire hand and Montezuma's shell is maybe 5 cm long, so little Montezuma will probably be quite intimidated for a while.

Oh bless him, he is a little man now and off chasing the ladies LOL! They do seem to stay babies for quite a while, don't they? I am sure his little shell will be fine love and as he is a young man now, he will want to look his best. He probably loved having his shell rubbed with castor oil. I am sure Gaius and Montezuma will work things out and get together. It will be lovely and interesting watching out for this.

Wow it's been nearly a year since I last wrote about Montezuma! I was pretty worried about his shell for a very long time because it just wouldn't straighten out, and then Gaius left us, so I waited for the day I can bring happy news. The day is here! After a long, long struggle, Montezuma finally has a healthy, smooth growth ring in his shell, and he's altogether in the middle of a massive growth spurt. He's also very willing to mate, but as he's my only Tiger snail right now (I really must fix this over the summer), he's been telling Darius the big grumpy Margie that he's very, very handsome. Darius takes it surprisingly well for the grump he is, hahah.
