I noticed last night that Boo our iredalei is a lot smaller that Belle her sister who are approximately the same age. Boo has always been slightly smaller than Belle but it seems like Boo hasn't grown much in the last couple of months compared with Belle even though they are kept together with the same conditions.
There's always cuttle fish and ground oyster shell available, lots of food and I have the thermostat set at 25 degrees, although the heat mats hardly ever on at the moment as the house is always warm.
The rest of our snails who are siblings are around the same size, one's always bigger than the other by a couple of mm, but not to the extent of the difference between Boo and Belle.
Is this a common occurrence or is there something I'm doing wrong?
All i seem to do is ask questions at the moment.

Very common. I have an Iredalei that is hardly any bigger than a hatchling, yet his siblings are growing nicely. I have a pair of Jades that were sent to me, they were nearly the same size when they arrived but the difference between them now is - well - there'a one heck of a difference. I'll dig out a photo. I also have a couple of Tigers that I got around Christmas that have hardly grown, they were juviniles when I got them but my baby Tigers have almost caught them up in size! Other members here have noticed this too. As long as the snails are active and seem healthy then it's probably just in their genes xx The two Jades here are from the same batch - or so I believe, and were almost the same size when I received them. The little dot of a snail at the top-left there is an Iredalei which is around three months old and has hardly grown, but is active.

i notice my last tiger hatchlings have extreme variations in their growth , some have reached one inch while others have hardly grown at all , im thinking of trying some sort of experiment and removing the tiny ones to a tub of their own to see if they have a growth spurt then , its not just a small difference in them its massive

Kab,these two are from you...even though they came via Nix... But yeh one is lots smaller than the other... But they're both healthy and eating and active so i'm not worried.... Strange though, wonder why it happens...

Thank goodness for that i thought there was something wrong, but she is always out and a bout in the tank and when she's not sliming about she's either stuffing her face or stuck to the cuttle fish.

Well you get big and small people don't you? that is very true, i am 4 foot 10, and i am thirteen and in 8th grade. the rest of my family is tall, but i am just short, i guess the tall gene skipped a generation, and i guess that that can happen with any type of animal. -miley

Well I was going to start a thread but I guess I wont now I`ve got a little Iredeli lol I can never spell that its really small about this big [ ] and doesn`t seem to have grown at all since I got it about three months ago ! I`m not actually heating the tank that ones in at the moment though, maybe I`ll sort a heater out there today, I`m just a bit worried the babys (its in my baby tank) wont cope with heat too well , am I right to be worried ? or am I being a big worrying Feebix?

I find that all the other baby snails do better with heat than without. I find they grow quicker. But to be honest I'm useless at keeping Iredalei.... they die off on me
