I'm sure sure precisely where to put this, but since it deals with eggs and breeding, I think this is the best bet... Ovacannibalism: The eating of eggs; normally of their species, or their own eggs. Has anyone found this happening amongst their snails? Even just once or twice? The snail basically lays an egg, then immediately turns on it, and eats it. As in sucking out the insides, but leaving the shell either half there or nearly whole, type of thing... Thanks

Ive never noticed this with my ones, I sometimes hatch eggs in with the parent snails, and have had no problems with them attempting to eat any eggs upto now.

For mine, this is, if I could stretch it that far, seems to be deliberate on the count of the 'mother.'
She actually curls around and rasps at the eggs as they fall, and basically sucking the insides out. At first it was a sort of stunned disbelief, then I realized they might be missing something in their diets.
So I started giving more 'heavy protein' dog biscuits, and they left the last clutch alone.
I've no clue honestly, but I'll relate if I see it again.

They are A. immaculata, if this of any sort of help... These snails are noted for an abnormal behaviour in many aspects. lool
