Can any of you confirm this little chap is a Rodatzi. He is the last little one I have and he is a lot paler than his Hamillei parents. If he is Rodatzi what would be his official title. Achatina Hamillei Var Rodatzi? Cheers. ;D

it wouldnt be Achatina hamillei, they are a subspecies of fulica, so it would be Achatina fulica hamillei f. rodatzi.

Thanks Kevin,
It's really confusing cos of the sub species. At least I know his official title now.
Glitterbug, I think you will get quite a lot of Rodatzi's all the ones I kept to hatch went this colour.
Thanks Jo ;D

I just got 4 snails, that are supposed to be rodatzii. But they dont really look much different than fulicas. At what size should the difference be seen? They are about 1cm now.

No, from snail-forum in Finland. There was a pic of parents, they looked to have pretty yellow shell's. But Im just worried... Will these grow like that or not. Will all rodatzi-babies look like rodatzies, or can there be 'normal' ones in the clutch?
Should I feed them yellow foods? If that would help get the good colour or something...

I have some young rods they are about 2 cm they have a yellow shell with black/grey blotches on, I am hatching some rods eggs at the min 1 has started to hatch i will check on it tomorrow to see what it looks like but im sure it will be very pale as most hatchlings are, Amber breeds these she might be a good person to ask.

It depends. Some rodatzi can still produce normal fulica shells. They shouldn't be able to in theory because of the way recessive genetics work, but I've seen it happen, though not often.
Could you describe the shells please? Do they have any stripes? Rodatzi shells can start off a little spotty, and these spots fade when the shell gets thicker as the snail grows, but if they clearly have stripes then you may end up with normal fulica shells.
The food you give won't make a difference to the colour of the shell, there's nothing you can do to change it.

I think a picture will tell more than my words. I really really wish they would start to look like rodatziis, but now they dont.

They do look like rodatzis. While the shell is young and thin this is what they look like. After a month or more you should see them developing a lovely golden-yellow shell. Don't worry, they look like completely normal rodatzi babies
