And what South African government have been doing with their giant snail fauna?? Forbidding trade for captive breeding ( maybe one of the most effective ways to save endangered species...) but allowing local people to kill them ( to have their shells or to eat) and habitat destruction that seems to be the biggest problem ( as usual).

What?? lool. How...?? LOOL. Did you found someone that is about to send achatinidae alive from south africa?? Is the first time I hear that... I have been in contact with some south africans ( some sell shells btw...) and they say it´s illegal and that south africa is one of the worse countries concerning export of alive wildlife... But, now you put me curious, I have to ask sellers about it... If you are right would be a very, very good thing... Just to remind some people here that might not be aware, that south africa has some wonderfull snails, like A. varicosa, A. zebra and several other species...

This is exactly the sort of species i've been looking to breed a true conservation project. Are there any in the uk at all?

I hope someone manages to help the species out. Perhaps several of us could volunteer to try to breed them if we ever manage to get hold of any, and document the best conditions.
