awesome i liked this bit "Unlike most slugs, the ghost slug is carnivorous and kills earthworms at night with powerful, blade-like teeth, sucking them in like spaghetti"

yeah, its amazing how they are able to eat earthworms, and so easilly apparantly.
The pictures I took predate when they were first noticed by the museum, so I may have been the first person to see them here, or at least to photograph one of them.
Anyone who see's this species please contact Cardiff Museum.

Wow that's really exciting!!
Ghost Slug, Selenochlamys ysbryda. As they're concerned about the possibility of it becoming a pest perhaps it may be wise to collect and keep as many as you can find? Though I guess it's now established itself.
However with so many creatures eating worms already I would hope it couldn't damage the worm population any more than any other species.

Congrats Kevin, even though I think they should have named it after since you discovered it more or less..... Personally I wouldn't collect all you could find ,for all we know it might be rarer than they think. As for the worm population:not too worried about that, plenty of them going around I say.

theres plenty of worms in my garden, but not many Snails, I havent seen any Helix or Cepaea in my garden for at least 2-3 years, so maybe they also eat those? The one I found two years ago was in a lane around 1 mile from my house, but ive since found two in my garden, both together. I had assumed at the time (this was only a month or so ago) that they were albino Testacellidae species, and left them there. I would of collected them if I knew about them being a new species. I agree though, it may not be best to collect too many of these, I dont think they want them all brought to them, just to work out everywhere that they may be found.
A week this Saturday I'll be going to Cardiff Museum, as ive been invited by one of the people who wrote the paper on them, so I'll ask when Im there if they wanted all the Slugs actually brought to them. I know they already keep a population of them themselves.

this was just mentioned on the Welsh news, the person who invited me to visit the museum was on there talking about the Slug, they also mentioned it was found in Caerphilly, which is great. I did tape it (on vhs) I may be able to get it onto a disc, I'll ask a friend for help with that, if im able to upload it I'll post a link here.
