Sasha my fairly new jaditzi has several things wrong with her. She has not eaten since i got her, took two hours to coax out last night and is very very skinny, probally about a third of the fatness she should be (although with not eating no wonder). Shes barely ever coming out, its really taking ages to get her out (I am leaving her for the most part though , to conserve her strength), and she's very deeply retracted all the time (the pic below is after coaxing her forward loads, i could not even see her before she was that far back). Also she has a funny coloured sort of red mouth (no pics i'm afraid, she won't stay out enough for me to get one). I'm keeping her warm, right humidity and everything, tried loads of foods and stuff, both mushed and un mushed, but to no avail. She sort of rears back when her mouth touches anything. I've had lots of problems with snails before, but never with this combo of symptoms and very rarely this bad. I know shes 99% probally going to die, but I would like some idea of what this is. I'm very worried its a disease, and that despite full quarantine etc it will spread. sorry for the bad pic quality. If anyone has any idea what this could be please let me know. I have also posted this on PS but I know there are members on here not on there so might get more answers from here.

It sounds like her mouth is sore and therefore she doesn't want to eat. Have you tried giving her a bath in green tea? It has natural antiseptic and astringent qualities so if you could get her head/mouth area soaked in it, it could help. Other than that, I'm afraid I don't know what to suggest I guess you could give her a bath in some water with liquid vitamins added to it, or water that has had vegetables cooked in it, in an attempt to get her to absorb some nutrients through her skin, but I have no idea how effective this is.

yeah, i did try green tea, if anything seemed to make it worse . Shes had all sorts of baths to no effect. I did think it might be mouth injury, but one of jas' other snails has died with all the same stuff

i wonder if the cross breeding ( so to speak ) has caused some kind of defect in these snails making them susceptible to disease / deformity ?

Hmmm. Do you know the snail's genetic line? With mine I've had a few snails with poor shell growth (but the snails have been healthy), and some that have grown strong and fast. Other people from other countries have had them where all the albinos are runty. Genetic problems are possible.
However I do think it sounds more like digestive problems.
