improvements ;D . I took a pair of sterilized disecting tweezers to her to try and remove the coir from the mess, i realised i could pluck bits of the yellowystuff off too and she didnt care or retract (shes such a good girl!) i managed to pull a HUGE lump off from the eyestalk area and *pop* her eyestalk comes out, obviouly i've only eliviated the symptoms i dont know what the problem is but now atleast i tlooks like it might only be the mucus! some infection fungal or bacterial i guess.... its very reminiscent of human phelgm during a very very bad cold and much more viscus almost solid ewwww. but atleast its not as bad as i thought it was but i still need to fix the problem! any good and safe antifungals or antibacterials you can recommend? tea tree?

Whoooooah I`d be VERY careful pulling things out of a snails face with tweezers! Often it`s nothing, it just looks like a problem, eye stalks do funny things, and they always sort them selves out anyway, you could do some damage if your not careful, even if you are careful! I`ve seen bent stalks, everything, all normal....

The best thing to remove dirt with, if you have to do it is water....

i couldn't remove it with water it was all embedded in that wierd thick mucusy stuff. the mucusy stuff pulled off alright and shes improved (see pics) if she ever retracted even a bit i let go of whatever it was. with all the thick discoloured goo im fairly sure its an infection. ill wait and see and maybe bath in green tea.

The goo looks exactly like legacy to me, it comes from the reproductive node on the side of the neck and is completely normal. As I say, some of the things snails do, if you`ve never seen it before, look really bad, like an infection or parasite. When I first saw the reproductive parts of a snail protruding from the neck I thought it had a parasite or an infection, whereas in actualy fact, it was totally normal reproductive activity Trust me lol I`m trying to be a clever clogs lol I just know my snails That looks like reproductive activity to me.....

shes only a few months old (no more than 3 months) . there are 2 rodatzis who have been sticking their love darts out a bit - not at each other just enough to make the tiniest white bump. im not sure how old they are and they are quite small but i dont know their age they are about 7 to 8 cm ill measure properly later. i hope thats all it is but why would it be on her and noone else? and why was the 'goo' so tough?

sometimes if the goo is "mating fluid" it sets like concrete , i actually gave up trying to clean it off one of my Immaculata's shells. Yellowy white and after its sets its like concrete lol

maybe thats what it is then but its still a mystery as to why it would be on her she's not old enough to mate unless she was unfortunate enough to get in the way of the 2 rodatzis

Muddy, that snail is plenty old enough to mate, it doesn`t have to be on anyone else at all, it can just seep out all over one snail, it happens on a regular basis with my snails, I suppose when you`ve got loads and loads of snails you see it more often . Here is a picture I`ve just searched out for you, showing two Reticulata with genetic legacy all over them. If you see something on a snails eye stalk, really, honestly, it is much better off left well alone, the snail will sort it out itself. They have a protective slime that will push it out in time, intervening with tweezers really isn`t a good idea at all, it will cause more harm than good. Even if she didn`t shy away, when she does, it`s too late isn`t it. Up to you really dude, I`m just trying to help....

Think at what stage in their development humans are, if not actually mating, then displaying all the skills necessary Some are precocious... also, some are messier than others. Humans *and* snails

I sold a load of baby Fulica a little while back, almost as soon as I`d sold them, I got an e mail asking me how to look after the hundreds of eggs they`d just laid. Those snails were barley two inches across....
