im more curious about this than worried and just wondered if people had any ideas. recently my big fulica went through a growth spurt, and one of them (napoleon) has just got a wierd habit of having the mantle back around the area where it was before the growth spurt even whilst out and about and he's perfectly happy apart from this bizaree behaviour, whenever i pick him up he rapidly pushes the mantle out to where it should be so he looks normal again. I wondered if this could be some wierd pregnancy behaviour so have been watching his pneutrostome to see if there were any eggs but whenever im holding him so i can see he wont open it or will everso slightly so i cant possibly see in anyone else had similar experiences? im sure its not a problem, hes perfectly fine, but im curious non-the-less

the way to trick him to open it is place him on a surface thats flat ( even your hand if you can get the correct angle ) then very gently adjust it to see into the shell. lots of snails do this, and even the most relaxed of snails ( usually retics ) will close up when tilted quicky to a certain angle.
I cant see there being a problem with the pleural ganglia this normally happens in older snails, so unless he is very old you should be ok. You did also mention he seems perfectly happy ;D
Hope this helps
